These appetizers are the perfect fusion of comfort food and finger food, making them an ideal choice for parties, game day gatherings, or even a unique family dinner. In this recipe, we’ll guide you through creating your own Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, combining the classic ingredients of a Philly cheesesteak with the irresistible crunch of an egg roll wrapper.

Ingredients:

For the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese, torn into smaller pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For Assembling the Egg Rolls:

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Water (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Optional: ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauces

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Philly Cheesesteak Filling

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables become tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked steak to the skillet and mix everything together. Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 2: Assemble the Egg Rolls

  1. Lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner pointing towards you (diamond shape).
  2. Place a small piece of torn provolone cheese on the bottom half of the wrapper.
  3. Spoon a portion of the Philly cheesesteak filling on top of the cheese.
  4. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling and roll it up tightly, starting from the bottom. Use a small amount of water to seal the top corner and create a sealed egg roll.

Step 3: Fry the Egg Rolls

  1. In a large, deep skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove the egg rolls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!

  1. Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls hot, either as an appetizer or a fun finger food meal.
  2. Provide your favorite dipping sauces, like ketchup, mayonnaise, or a cheese sauce, for added flavor.
  3. Watch them disappear as your guests savor the delicious fusion of Philly cheesesteak and crispy egg roll wrapper.
